Julie Cohen is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) and a Child Mental Health Specialist with a private practice in Los Angeles. Her areas of focus include: depression, anxiety, panic, post traumatic stress. grief & loss, and gay & lesbian issues. In addition to her private practice she is currently a medical advisor to the website www.dailystrength.org; The internet's largest online support community.
Ms Cohen has more than 20 years of clinical experience working in the mental health field. Her early training focused on trauma recovery. She also served as Director of Clinical Services at a community based domestic violence shelter and counseling center. As director, Ms. Cohen created one of the first counseling programs in the country to address the mental health needs of children victimized by domestic violence. Ms Cohen has also provided clinical supervision to MFT interns at several non-profit counseling centers in the Los Angeles area.
Ms. Cohen has a Masters degree in Counseling with an emphasis on Marriage Family and Child Counseling and a Bachelors degree in Child Development with an emphasis on Child Mental Health. She completed both degrees at California State University at Northridge. She is a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.
Ms Cohen spends her free time with her partner, two young children and two very mischievous cats. |
